GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County Animal Care took in nearly 150 cats and dogs on Monday, and now they are trying to find them new homes.

On their Facebook page, they said they received 100 kittens and cats and 50 dogs. Spokesperson Susan Bufano said Monday's intake is higher than their usual daily average.

"Whether it is to foster, adopt, rescue, sponsor, volunteer, or donate supplies (canned cat food is desperately needed!), we could sure use your support right now," the Facebook post said.

Bufano said they are having a kitten special because they are receiving several litters at a time.

Between June 2-7, Greenville County Animal Care will be adopting kittens for $40. The fee includes a kitten care kit and supportive veterinary checkups.

Bufano said preventing these types of situations comes down to spaying and neutering animals.

Residents with the zip code 29609 can have a cat spayed or neutered for free.

People on government assistance can get their cats spayed or neutered for $15, and dogs are $30.

Bufano said the animals they received on Monday are not from a "puppy mill."
