SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

When a Roebuck man noticed a pair of men trying to steal some wheels and an axle, he jumped into his truck and chased after them, getting them to return the goods, according to deputies.

Spartanburg County deputies said the victim called 911 while following after the suspects' pickup truck.

While he was following the truck, the suspects stopped and asked him why, according to the sheriff's office report. The report stated the victim told them he saw the theft and they agreed to bring it back to the man's house.

When deputies arrived at the victim's Kent Park Circle home, they said the men were in the process of off-loading the steel axle and the wheels.

Deputies said they arrested the two men, 49-year-old Robert Meadows and 19-year-old Curtis Meadows. The report stated deputies found a bag of green plant-like material on Robert Meadows, who was cited with simple possession of marijuana. Both men were charged with petit larceny and released from jail on bond.
