MARION, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A western North Carolina man is accused of selling a stolen car for more than $1,000 less than it was worth, according to deputies.

McDowell County deputies said the victim's 1999 Saturn was reported stolen on April 29. The victim told deputies the car was worth $1,500.

Later on, deputies said a man sold the car to a local scrap yard for $255.

Deputies recovered the car and arrested Matthew Branch, 30, and charged him with felony obtaining property by false pretense.
