Who killed NiShan Huff?

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

As Chicketa Hamilton shared a story with her daughter on Tuesday, she knew one day she would have to tell her daughter another story.

"I just miss her presence," Hamilton said.

Even now, the story of her sister NiShan Huff seems unreal.

"I miss her just being here for the special moments," Hamilton said.

On June 7, 2006 someone killed Huff inside her Boulder Creek apartment in Greenville County.

"I've actually just accepted she's no longer coming back," Hamilton said.

And every June 7, Chicketa along with her other sister, India Hunter, get the word out about a candlelight vigil held at the very place someone shot their sister.

"At some point, I think you have to kind of put yourself in someone else's shoes," Hunter said.

A difficult, but necessary gathering because they want answers.

"And we would greatly appreciate any amount of information," Hunter said.

And detectives with the cold case unit said they would appreciate it too.

"We get leads in and of course we follow up on those," said Jonathan Smith, a master deputy with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office. "Investigators that are working the case they are continuously going back through the initial report that was taken."

The Huff family believes one day they'll know the truth, and it will be a story to tell with a special ending.

"I think through her memory, we're going to have to find some peace," Hamilton said.

The candlelight vigil will take place Saturday, June 7 at the Boulder Creek Apartment Complex in Greenville County. The event will start at 7 p.m.

If you have any information about the case, deputies want you to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME. You can remain anonymous and if your information leads to an arrest, you could get a cash reward.
