Deputies said a Union man is accused of assaulting and threatening to kill a woman with an ice pick but she was able to call 911, whispering for help on Tuesday.

Union County deputies said the woman called 911 from a 911-only cell phone and whispered a man was threatening to kill her then hung up about 10 p.m.

Deputies said they found the caller at a home on Pineland Road along with the man she said had assaulted her for several hours and threatened her.

According to the deputy's report, the woman had scratches all over, a knot on the back of her head and her jaw was sore from being hit.

She said Terry Thompson, 39, has assaulted her and threatened to kill her using an ice pick, the report stated. Deputies said Thompson did not have any injuries but said the woman had hit him during the incident.

Deputies arrested Thompson and charged him with criminal domestic violence.
