WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Oconee County woman is facing grand larceny charges after deputies said she stole patio furniture, which she claimed she was going to paint as a favor to the owner.

Public information officer Jimmy Watt said on May 10, more than $7,000 worth of patio furniture was taken from Keowee Town Market on Highway 11.

Salem police told deputies that they located the furniture at a house close by, according to Watt.

When deputies went to the home, they found the furniture scattered throughout the yard and some sitting in the back of a pickup truck, Watt said.

Deputies spoke with 37-year-old Lelani Lairson, who told deputies she took the furniture and planned to paint it as a favor for the owner, according to Watt.

The owner told deputies she had never met Lairson.

Lairson was charged with grand larceny and released on Tuesday on $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
