4 GOP lieutenant governor candidates debate in SC

COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -

The four Republicans who want to become South Carolina's last elected lieutenant governor all gave their vision on how they can help seniors during a debate in Columbia.

One of the lieutenant governor's two chief roles in the state is running the Office on Aging and that was the chief topic at Thursday's debate.

Former state attorney general Henry McMaster wants to expand tax breaks for seniors. Mike Campbell, the son of former Gov. Carroll Campbell, wants to improve the Office of Aging's website. Kiawah Island developer Pat McKinney supports vouchers to help caregivers of the elderly get a break. Retired Army chaplain Ray Moore wants to get churches to help South Carolinians over age 65.

The winner of Tuesday's Republican primary will face Democratic state Rep. Bakari Sellers.
