MOORE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a woman was found dead inside her Moore home after a fire. The woman reportedly phoned her husband for help.

The fire was reported at a home on Sierra Ridge Court about 10 a.m.

According to a sheriff's office report, the victim's husband received a call at work from his wife screaming for help. He rushed home to find a small fire in the bedroom where his wife was located then called 911, deputies said.

Once Roebuck firefighters arrived, deputies said smoke was seen coming from the house and the woman was found dead inside.

Lt. Tony Ivey with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said first responders believed victim appeared to have been smoking in bed but the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed. Deputies said no foul play is suspected.

Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the woman who died as 69-year-old Dorothy Chumley. He said they are actively investigating with the sheriff's office violent crime team.
