Clemson ace Daniel Gossett is ready to begin his pro career and couldn't think of a more meaningful organization to be part of than Oakland.
The junior right-hander was chosen in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft on Thursday night. He knows the "Moneyball" A's are famous for using under-valued players to great success.
Gossett recalled watching the 2011 movie and then getting a full-blown explanation of the A's management style from an engineering friend of his. So when he learned his destination, Gossett knew that mean the A's organization was impressed by his college career and was confident there was more ahead.
Gossett says he'd be happy to return for his senior season should contract talks not work out, but is confident things will go smoothly.
