GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said one person has been charged and another is on the loose after Poinsett Tire in Greenville County was robbed on Friday.

Deputy Drew Pinciaro said it was reported that two men walked into the tire shop acting like they were going to buy tires. They then pulled out guns and assaulted and robbed the clerk, according to Pinciaro.

The two men then took off, he said.

The clerk ran out after them, jumped into his Ford Mustang and started chasing them, Pinciaro said.

He said the suspects crashed on Old Buncombe Road and Morris Street.

The clerk continued on and flagged down two deputies who were on a separate call on 1st Avenue, Pinciaro said.

The deputies called for backup who found the car crashed on the corner of Old Buncombe Road and Morris Street.

Pinciaro said one person was still in the car. He said the person was arrested.

A second person ran from the crash site, and they are still searching for him at this time, he said.

The clerk was taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known at this time.

Deputy Drew Pinciaro said 43-year-old Steven Lavon Williams was charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the incident.
