EPA: High TCE levels displace 3 Asheville families

Posted: Updated:
ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The EPA said three families who live across from the former CTS factory in Asheville have agreed to temporarily relocate after elevated levels of trichloroethylene (TCE) were found.

On June 2, the EPA said the CTS Corporation's contractor submitted data from air sampling at the property off Mills Gap Road.

They said the sampling, which was done with EPA oversight, showed that the TCE levels exceeded the EPA's residential air screening level.

They said the families will remain relocated until actions are done to reduce the TCE levels in indoor air.
