Firefighter injured, 3 displaced in North Richmond house fire

Posted: Updated:

Richmond fire is investigating the cause of a house fire on the Northside.

Officials say around 2:07 p.m. Saturday firefighters were called to a home in the 2100 block of North Avenue.

When they arrived smoke and flames could be seen coming from the second story of the home. One person was inside when the fire started, but evacuated before crews got to the scene.

Batallion Chief Christine Richardson tells us one firefighter was transported to the hospital for a medical issue related to the fire. She also said the home had working smoke detectors and as well as sprinklers.

We are told two women and a man who lived in the home have been displaced. They are now being assisted by the Red Cross.
