GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Candles were lit, prayers went up, and tears fell down as family and friends of a slain Greenville County woman returned to the place where she was brutally murdered eight years earlier.

Saturday marked the eight anniversary of the brutal shooting which claimed NiShan Huff's life inside her Boulder Creek apartment.

The person who pulled the trigger has never been found, and while deputies continue to search for Huff's killer, her family says they just want answers.

"I was spending my time hating somebody," said NiShan's mother Sacha Huff. "I don't know who (the shooter) is, so I learned to forgive whoever did it. I just learned to forgive them. I just want closure."

Huff's family has held candlelight vigils each year on the anniversary of the young woman's 2006 slaying, and said the vigils will continue to keep the case and the memory of a young woman's tragic death alive.

"We're not going to let this go forgotten," said Huff's sister, India Hunter. "We're not going to let this be another case where a young female is murdered, or in some cases go missing, and you hear about it for a week and you never hear about it again. There's never really a resolution. (The family) decided that this will not be one of those cases. We're going to keep this open and relevant until we get some answers."
