A Hendersonville man has been charged after deputies said he attacked a woman with a 12-inch kitchen knife.

On Tuesday at about 11:45 a.m., deputies were called to a home on Springside Drive for reports of a stabbing, according to Chief Deputy Frank Stout with Henderson County Sheriff's Office.

Stout said deputies arrested 70-year-old Benny Mooney and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill in connection with the incident.

The victim was taken to Mission Hospital, where she underwent treatment for her injuries.

Stout said the incident was domestic.
