WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
An Oconee County man accused of stealing from a home he was doing work on has been charged, according to the sheriff's office.
Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt said the sheriff's office was called about electronics and jewelry missing from a family's home in late May. He said the family had just returned from vacation on May 29.
Investigators determined that 23-year-old James Reed, who was doing work at the home while the family was on vacation, had broken into the home and stolen the items, Watt said.
The items were reported to be valued at $3,500.
Reed was held on $40,000 surety bond at the Oconee County Detention Center.
