SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg woman is accused of stealing cash and lottery tickets from the Kangaroo Express she worked for, deputies said.

Spartanburg County deputies said they were called to the convenience store on Asheville Highway on Thursday about an embezzlement.

Deputies said the suspect, 48-year-old Linda Millwood, gave them a statement saying in February she began to void customers' cash transactions, keeping the money for herself when the customer left with their purchase.

According to deputies, Millwood admitted to taking lottery tickets and scratching them without paying. In total, deputies said she stole $6,500 from the store.

Deputies arrested and charged her with breach of trust.
