Travelers Rest police said a driver accused of colliding with two separate cars, injuring two people, has turned himself in on Friday.

Capt. John Gardner said about 11:30 a.m. a black Dodge Durango hit a car on U.S. 276 in front of the Walgreens but left the scene of the wreck.

Gardner said a witness followed the truck, which went north on U.S. 25, before turning around heading south, but the witness lost him.

Then the truck hit a parked car at the Park Place Apartments, Gardner said.

He said two people were hurt in the first crash and would be taken to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries.

The truck has heavy front-end damage, Gardner said.

Police said 62-year-old Wayne Ross Saunders turned himself over to police in connection with the incident. Saunders has been charged with driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
