The Pickens County Sheriff's Office said a Central man faces attempted murder charges after a stabbing at a campsite early Saturday morning.

Deputies said they were called to a campsite near the Twelve Mile Creek Bridge on Hwy 137 just after midnight in reference to a stabbing.

At the scene, deputies discovered a 33-year-old-man with multiple stab wounds to the upper body and face.

The victim was taken to the hospital and rushed into surgery, deputies said.

Deputies said their investigation revealed that Kendall Shipman, 39, of Nuthatch Road, was the suspect.

Shipman stabbed the victim after the two acquaintances got into an argument, deputies said.

Shipman has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Shipman is currently being held in the Pickens County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
