SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said deputies located an elderly woman who was reported as missing and endangered Sunday morning.

Just before 8:30 a.m. deputies said they found Betty Acrey, 77, at a friend's home on Springfield Road after Acrey called theSpartanburg County Communications Center and told dispatchers that she was okay.

Acrey's family reported her missing from her home on Taylor Colquitt Road in Spartanburg County just after midnight, when they discovered a door had left ajar and that Acrey was nowhere to be found.

The family said Acrey shows signs of dementia and has wandered off in the past.

According to reports, canine teams were able to track Acrey until they reached the New Cut Road bridge over I-85.

Deputies asked citizens living in the Taylor Colquitt Road area to assist in the search by checking their property, along with any out buildings and vehicles for any signs of Acrey.

Deputies also asked people to look for the woman while driving through the area on their way to church.

Lt. Tony Ivey said Acrey was in good health and is being reunited with her family.

"We would like to thank the media and the citizens of Spartanburg County for their assistance with this search," Ivey said. "Once again we have a successful conclusion to this type of incident because law enforcement, the media and our citizens all worked together."
