GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man wanted in connection with a fatal early morning shooting at a nightclub in mid-June was taken into custody in Texas, Greenville County Sheriff's Office public information officer Jonathan Smith told FOX Carolina News.

Smith said Tony Leamon, 30, was wanted on the charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the shooting at the Black and Mild club on Hampton Avenue Extension on June 14.

The sheriff's office had information that he may be heading to Texas, according to Smith.

He said deputies contacted area agencies to let them know he may be coming their way.

The Carrollton Police Department in Carrollton, TX, started checking hotels in the area and located Leamon and took him into custody without incident, Smith said.

Carrollton police said patrol officers had a description of Leamon's possible vehicle from Greenville County deputies and noticed a car that matched the description at a motel, calling in the SWAT team. They said Leamon surrendered peacefully.

He is currently in the custody of the Dallas County Sheriff's Office awaiting extradition.

The victim of the shooting was identified as Joseph Marion, 31, of Greenville. The coroner said Marion was at a function at the club when a fight started and he was shot.
