1 dead, 3 injured in Raeford crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

One person is dead and three are injured following a car crash Monday night in Raeford.

Fayetteville police said two vehicles were involved in a collision around 10 p.m. Monday in the area of Stoney Point Road near Donnie Mae Road.

Police said the driver of one of the vehicles, 42-year-old Vernita Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in Vernita Smith's vehicle, 19-year-old Devante Smith, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said Vernita Smith's vehicle crossed the center line of Stoney Point Rd. and collided with a 2012 Dodge Ram driven by Daniel Smith, 40, of Fayetteville. Daniel Smith was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Casey Smith, 36, was a passenger in Daniel Smith's vehicle. Casey Smith was not seriously injured and was also take to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.
