ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

What used to be the perfectly painted walls of Janet Johnson's grandkids' rooms are now a bullet-riddled crime scene.

Johnson said back on June 6 someone opened fire at the kids' second-story bedrooms at her home on Lee Dobbins road in Anderson county. Johnson said deputies told her a high-powered rifle was likely used since the bullets penetrated several walls.

"There's nothing a grandmother won't do to protect her grandchildren," Johnson said.

Johnson said fortunately her grandchildren were on vacation and the rooms were empty. As Johnson looked at a bullet hole in one of the bathroom windows she almost began crying.

"My blood just leaves my body," said Johnson. "All it took was my grandchild standing right here."

Johnson is now offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest to put her grandchildren's mind at ease

"They're scared, they think someone is out to get us," Johnson said.

Surrounded by six of her grandkids, Johnson said  she hopes the reward will also put a shooter she calls "heartless" behind bars.

"This could have been one of these children's funerals," Johnson said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Anderson County Sheriff's Office or Crimestoppers at  1-888-CRIME-SC.
