ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said one person died in a two-vehicle wreck in Anderson County on Tuesday night.

Troopers said it happened around 9:45 p.m., about four miles east of Pendleton on Liberty Highway.

A Dodge pickup was heading west along the highway when an eastbound Honda Accord veered into the westbound lane. Troopers say the driver of the pickup attempted to swerve, but the two vehicles collided.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown identified the victim as Michael Siders, 43, of Anderson.

McCown said Siders had just come off shift from his job as an emergency department nurse at Cannon Memorial Hospital and was headed home when the crash happened.

The driver of the pickup was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
