SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Spartanburg County man was sentenced in a 2013 screwdriver attack on a nurse on Wednesday.

Richard Culberson, 47, was found guilty of kidnapping, assault with intent to commit first-degree sexual conduct, attempted armed robbery and first-degree assault and battery at the conclusion of a three-day jury trial.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

On Jan 24, 2013, Culberson attacked a woman at the Mary Black Medical Park on Reidville Road in Spartanburg. The victim said she felt Culberson grab her in a sexual way and then stab her in the shoulder with a screwdriver as she was about to enter the building.

He knocked the woman down and hit her before stabbing her again. He then fled the scene.

Deputies arrested Culberson at his parent's home in Moore hours after the crime. The solicitor's office said he had shaved his head in the aftermath of the crime.

The victim was able to identify him in a photo line-up and during her courtroom testimony.

Culberson will have to serve 80 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for release. When he is released, he will also have his name added to the sex offender registry.
