The Spartanburg Police Department says its Alcohol and Tobacco Compliance Team cited three people for illegally serving and selling alcohol to minors.

The first citation went to Christopher Johnson, 30, at Delux Liquor on Magnolia Street, police said. According to incident reports, officers sent an underage buyer into the store around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday. The reports state Johnson was charged after selling a bottle of rum to the minor without asking for identification.

Next, police cited a server at the Monterrey Mexican restaurant on W. O. Ezell Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to incident reports. Police say Filiberta Lopez, 29, served a shot of Smirnoff vodka to a minor. Police said Lopez did not ask to see an identification card and had trouble understanding when officers issued a citation for transfer of liquor to a minor.

Lastly, police said Elizabeth Burdick, 18, was cited for transfer of liquor to a minor at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. An underage buyer ordered a Tecate inside the Chipotle restaurant on W. O. Ezell Boulevard, where officers said Burdick checked the buyer's identification card and then continued to serve the minor.
