GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Simpsonville police say a traffic stop led to the largest LSD arrest in the city in more than 15 years.

Capt. Kevin Threlkeld said Simpsonville Vice and Narcotics pulled over the car for suspicious activity on Tuesday.

While speaking with the driver, police said they saw a man in the backseat holding a book and reaching into his pants pockets.

Threlkeld said the man, who they identified as 20-year-old Austin Blake Pereira, was found with marijuana in his pocket, which led officers to discovering more than 350 hits of LSD and four Ziplock backs of Psilocybin mushrooms.

He said other drug paraphernalia was also found on Pereira.

Pereira is charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession of psilocybin mushrooms with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking LSD.

He was being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.
