GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Trees were down across Spartanburg County after strong storms rolled through the area on Thursday afternoon.

Highway Patrol was reporting trees blocking multiple roads in the county, including Reidville Road, SC296, Anderson Mill Road and Lister Road.

Residents on Woodsberry Shoals Drive in Duncan say a home on the street was possibly struck by lightning during the storm, causing it to catch fire.

FOX Carolina Chief Meteorologist Kendra Kent said the worst storms had passed through the area by 6:30 p.m.

She said the storms were fueled by 90 degree temperatures that caused them to produce winds up to 60 mph.

According to Kent, strong storms will be possible again on Friday, with heavy rain and lightning being the primary threats as temperatures get back into the mid 90s.
