TOCCOA, GA (FOX Carolina) -

Georgia fire marshals are investigating after a fire destroyed a furniture plant in Stephens County on Saturday.

Firefighters with the Carnes Creek, Toccoa, several Stephens County, GA Fire Departments, and even crews from as far away as Oconee County, SC were called in to battle the fire inside the Heavywood Furniture plant off Highway 145.

Firefighters said the fire was reported around 10:30 a.m.

Dispatchers said the fire was "significantly large" and that the building contained lots of material that was fueling the flames.

Chief Jody Marcus with the Carnes Creek Fire Department said the heat from the fire combined with the 90-degree-plus heat outside was taxing on the firefighters involved. No injuries have been reported so far.

As of 5:30 p.m. Marcus said the fire was still raging in the back of the one-story furniture plant.

Marcus said the building was a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
