Deputies in Spartanburg County said a call about a patron assaulting a bartender resulted in a chase and landed the suspect in jail.

Deputies said they were called to the Boiling Springs Ale House on Highway 9 just after 4 a.m. A caller from inside the bar said a man put his hands on a female bartender then fled the business in a black Audi SUV.

Deputies said they spotted the suspect's vehicle leaving the parking lot as they arrived and began pursuing the vehicle, which refused to stop for blue lights.

The chase continued along several streets, then onto I-85 South, onto I-26 West, and then into Inman, according to deputies. The chase ended on Sunset Drive, where deputies said the suspect, Vitaly Ustimchuk, 26, pulled into a driveway and tried to run away. A deputy was able to catch up to the suspect and wrestle him to the ground, according to reports.

At the detention center, deputies said Ustimchuk's driver's license was suspended after he refused to take a breath test.

He was charged with failure to stop for blue lights and driving under the influence, according to online jail records.

Ustimchuk is being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Center on an $11,000 bond.

Deputies said the bartender declined to press assault charges.
