SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police said they were called to an overdose at a home and found the parents passed out and two children younger than 2 alone.

Police said they were called to the Creek Ridge Apartments and found the parents passed out from heroin use while their 8-month-old and 20-month-old children were unattended.

The children were placed in protective custody while the mom was taken to the hospital for an overdose, according to police.

Police said they arrested the father, charging him with child endangerment and they will charge the mother.

Their names have not yet been released.
