WALHALLA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A possible long-term landline and internet outage is being reported in the Keowee Key area of Oconee County on Monday, according to emergency service officials.

Director of Emergency Services Scott Krein said the outage could be repaired as late as the morning of Thursday, June 26.

Krein said landline phone and internet services through AT&T may also be out, affecting medical alert systems, fire alarms and other systems in homes and businesses.

On Monday, cell phone service was still working in the area.

Residents with emergencies should call 911 on a cell phone or notify a neighbor if you don't have one.

Krein said the Keowee Fire Station is staffed 24 hours a day for any assistance that may be needed.
