A driver and his passenger were airlifted to Greenville from the scene of a one-car Oconee County crash Tuesday.

Troopers said the accident happened along Highway 59 near Seneca about 1:10 a.m.

They said the driver was speeding when he ran off the left side of the road, flipping several times and careening into a tree.

The driver was thrown from the crash and his passenger was also injured, troopers said. Both men were flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital. Their condition was not released.

Troopers said the driver was cited with reckless driving, no seat belt violation and having unsafe tires.
