MAULDIN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Duke Energy is reporting that power has been restored in an outage that affected nearly 2,000 customers in Greenville County.

According to their website, 1,908 customers were without power in the area surrounding Main Street at Highway 14 Wednesday morning.

The power went out about 5:30 a.m., according to customers' reports. A Duke Energy spokesperson said the outage was caused by a damaged breaker at a substation. He said as crews were working to repair the issue and also discovered an issue with the underground wiring.

Crews are having to dig to access the faulty wire and were still working to get power on to the affected customers. Customers' power will be restored as service is rerouted to other circuits, but there is not a set time when power will be restored for everyone.

Brookwood Church's Adventure Week vacation Bible school is canceled for the day because of the power outage. They are asking parents not to drop kids off and if they have already done so, to come pick them up as soon as possible.

The Bi-Lo grocery store on Highway 14 at Stokes Road was running on backup power Wednesday morning, but the refrigerated sections were blocked off to customers.

Drivers are reminded to use caution when approaching intersections where the traffic lights are out and treat them as a four-way stop.

By 5:30 p.m. Duke Energy said all power has been restored.
