ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police said a man fled from an Anderson home where he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend then crashed into a patrol car as he fled from officers on Wednesday.

Anderson Police Lt. Kevin Warren said officers were first called to the criminal domestic violence case at a home on Stewart Circle about 7:30 a.m., but as they arrived they learned the suspect had fled the scene.

The suspect was spotted in his car on Fant and Franklin streets and when police tried to stop him, he fled, Warren said. He said during the chase, the driver crashed into an officer's patrol car.

The chase ended back at the Stewart Circle residence where the man was taken into custody, according to Warren.

Warren said the man, identified as Vonterious Richardson, 18, was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence, failure to stop for blue lights, malicious damage and threatening the life of a public official as he made threats during his arrest. He said more charges may be pending.

The victim did have visible injuries, though not severe, according to police.
