Deputies arrest Buncombe Co. pair on cocaine charges

BURNSVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies with the Yancey County Sheriff's Office said two Buncombe County natives were arrested on several drug charges after a traffic stop.

Deputies said Jackson Young, 25, of Ginger Quill Circle, Candler, and Whitney Jones, 25, of Landis Court, Asheville were charged following a May 5 traffic stop on US 19 East near Possum Trot Road.

Deputies said as Young was exiting the vehicle a syringe fell to the floorboard from his lap. After noticing this, deputies said they searched the vehicle and found several syringes and a small amount of what appeared to be cocaine.

Deputies said Young and Jones were charged with felony possession of cocaine, using a vehicle to sell /deliver cocaine and possession with intent to manufacture/sell/distribute cocaine.

Young and Jones were each released on a $40,000 secured bond.
