WEAVERVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said a man who had a stand-off with deputies as he was holed up in a home with his infant child has been charged.

Natalie Bailey, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said deputies responded to a call for service regarding a domestic incident at an address on Creek View Drive at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Bailey said the subject, Micah Chambers, 30, assaulted his former girlfriend and left with their infant child.

Chambers took the child back to his home on Climbing View Lane in Weaverville, where deputies say a stand-off occurred.

A Crisis Negotiation Team was called in to negotiate with the Chambers, who Bailey said surrendered just after 1 p.m.

Chambers was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female, Bailey said.

Bailey said the baby was unharmed and has been returned to the mother.
