SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that sent a man to the hospital Saturday morning.

Captain Art Littlejohn said officers responded to a home on Dover Road where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

A neighbor on a nearby street called 911 to report hearing gunshots just after 10 a.m., Littlejohn said.

According to police, the victim was out witnessing for God when he was shot and ran to a home where he beat on a door to get help.

Witnesses told officers the shooter may have driven away in a gray car.

Littlejohn asks anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

The victim's condition has not been released.
