Legendary composer, singer Johnny Mann remembered at funeral

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Friends, family, fans and fellow musicians gathered in Anderson to say goodbye to Johnny Mann on Saturday.

The 85-year-old was a Grammy winning recording artist, Hollywood film score composer, and conductor.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. John's United Methodist Church on South McDuffie Street.

Mann was the founder and leader of the Johnny Mann Singers, which recorded 42 albums. Mann's website said the band won two Grammy awards and earned five nominations.

He also provided the voice for the chipmunk "Theodore" on The Alvin Show in the 1960s.

Mann died June 18. He is survived by his wife Betty Mann.
