A man was charged after crime reports state he fired a gun during a children's birthday party in Spartanburg County on Saturday evening.
Deputies were called to a home on River Road shortly after 7 p.m. where witnesses said Omar Lopez started shooting during an argument with another man at the party, according to crime reports.
The other man involved in the argument told deputies that when he ordered Lopez to leave the property, Lopez pulled out a silver handgun and fired it three times, once into the air and twice into the ground, reports state.
Other witnesses told deputies the same story, and that they began taking the children inside after the shots rang out.
Lopez told officers the other man involved handed him the gun to shoot at a watermelon.
Deputies noted no gun was found at the scene but they collected enough evidence that a judge issued an arrest warrant.
Reports state that Lopez was charged with pointing and presenting firearms.
