ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson County deputies say a young child who was found wandering naked just after 10:30 a.m. Sunday along Oak Hill Drive has been reunited with his parents.

Deputies said someone living on Oak Hill Drive saw the male toddler walking with a dog, believed to be a pit bull or pit bull mix. The resident called the boy and dog over just as an off duty Anderson city police officer was driving by. The officer and neighbor notified the Sheriff's Office, and Sgt. Jonathan Brown said deputies rushed to the scene.

Deputies said the special needs boy, age 4, lives a short distance from where he was found and has since been reunited with his parents, who were unaware the child had slipped out of the house

The parents said the child has a tendency to both shed his clothes and escape the house. Deputies noted that parents had taken precautions to keep it from happening again by installing extra locks, but said the child was somehow able to get into the garage Sunday morning and activate the garage door opener.

Deputies said there is no evidence that the child is being improperly cared for and they did not find reason to place the child in emergency protective custody.

Due to the nature of the incident, deputies said the case will be handed over to DSS.
