GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office has a new partnership with Senior Helpers, an in-home senior care provider across the Upstate, to help train deputies how to recognize and respond to people suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia.

According to a news release, Senior Helpers will offer deputies with a better understanding of dementia and the many dementia related behaviors they may encounter.

Officials at Senior Helpers said they is a growing number of people with dementia who are living alone or living without some sort of supervision, leading to more dementia related calls for law enforcement and other emergency responders.
