(CNN) - A United Airlines flight from Chicago to Orange County, CA, was forced to land in Wichita, KS, on Sunday after the evacuation slide accidentally deployed midair.

The Boeing 737 was carrying 96 passengers and five crew members. A passenger said he heard a pop, turned around and saw the slide.

"They just had a panicked look and they quickly took the carts and ran backwards to the front of the plane," Diane Modini said, a passenger on the flight.

United says no one was hurt.

An airline spokeswoman didn't say what caused the slide to deploy but did say it wasn't a passenger attempting to open the emergency door.

All the passengers were seated at the time.

This isn't the first time a slide has accidentally deployed onboard a flight - last year, a slide opened on a Jet Blue flight - pinning a flight attendant against the wall of the plane.

Passengers onboard the United flight said it's lucky that everyone was seated and no one was in the back of the plane when the slide deployed Sunday night.
