July 4 events held across Upstate, western NC

Independence Day will kick off a three-day weekend for many this year. And to celebrate the patriotic season, there are many events being held across the Upstate and western North Carolina.

Here is a look at some of the events planned for July 4 and throughout the weekend.

Thursday, July 3

Laurens - RiverFront Freedom Festival: At the Laurens Amphitheater on Gordon Street starting at 6 p.m. with Laurens Idol Finals, Outshyne concert and fireworks around 9:15 p.m. Click here for more info.

Travelers Rest - Patriotic Concert: Starting at 7:30 p.m. the Greenville Chorale and Furman band will perform at the Furman University Amphitheater.

Friday, July 4 - Upstate Events

Coronaca - Two-day July 4 Celebration: Begins at 5 p.m. at the fire department on Highway 246, the Russell Scott Band performs at 7 p.m. with fireworks to follow. Click here for more info.

Easley - Celebrate America Festival: Two-day festival in downtown Easley, starts at 7 p.m. with fireworks at 9:45 p.m. Click here for more info.

Greenville - Wells Fargo Red, White and Blue Festival: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. along Main Street in downtown Greenville. The annual event features lives music, family friendly activities and a large fireworks show. Click here for more info.

Greenville - Earle Street Fourth of July parade: Earle Street Baptist Church hosts a parade and cookout starting at 7 p.m. Click here for more info.

Greenville - Celebration of Freedom & Fireworks at Redemption World Outreach: Gates open at 9 p.m. with fireworks at 10 p.m. at the church on Haywood Road.

Inman - Holly Springs Fire & Rescue Salute to America: Day-long festival starts at 10 a.m. at the fire district on Highway 357 with fireworks set for 9:30 p.m. Click here for more info.

Lake Greenwood (Waterloo) - Lights on the Lake: By boat, the event will feature BBQ for sale starting at noon and the camp opens at 5:30 p.m. to cars at Fellowship Camp & Conference at 457 Camp Rd. Mountain Rest - Hillbilly Day: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 120 Verner Mill Rd. The 55th annual event features Blue Grass music, clogging contests, fiddle and banjo competition, BBQ, chicken food plates, greased pig chase and pole climb. Click here for more info.

Newberry - Newberry Fireworks Celebration: Kids events start at 6 p.m. at Newberry High School with fireworks set for dusk. Click here for more info.

Pickens - Fourth of July Celebration: 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. along Main Street, featuring food, carnival rides, live music, fireworks and more. Click here for more info.

Seneca - July 4 Celebration: Gates open at 5 p.m. to Gignilliat Park, and the event features live music, a bounce house, fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. and more. Click here for more info.

Simpsonville - Independence Day at Charter Amphitheater: Gates open at 5:30 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m. Click here for more info and to buy tickets.

Spartanburg - Red, White and Boom: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Barnet Park, gates open at 5 p.m. and tickets cost $5, kids 6 and under are free. Click here for more info.

Friday, July 4 - Western NC Events

Arden - Fireworks at Lake Julian: Lake Julian Park off of Long Shoals Road opens at 8 a.m. and fireworks will begin at dark. The park offers picnic places and a great view of the fireworks. Click here for more info.

Asheville - Ingles Independence Day Celebration: From 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Pack Square Park and features family-friendly activities throughout the day and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Click here for more info.

Brevard - July 4 Celebration: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Brevard College. The daylong festival features a foot race, live music, a classic car show, fine arts, crafts, pet show, and a kids' bike parade. Click here for more info.

Saturday, July 5

Anderson - 4th of July Celebration: Starting at 11 a.m. at the Homeland Park Fire Department on South Main Street Ext. featuring a cookout, live music and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Click here for more info.

Coronaca - Two-day July 4 Celebration: Continues at 8 a.m. with crafts, slides, games and more. SCW wrestling will take the stage at 7 p.m. followed by fireworks.

Ware Shoals - 4th of July Celebration: Events and games begin at noon with an Outshyne concert at 6 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m. Click here for more info.

Williamston - Independence Day Celebration: Downtown Williamston featuring a car show, food, music and fireworks.
