Red Cross sets up shelter for stranded bus passengers in Old Fort

OLD FORT, N.C. (FOX Carolina) -

A shelter has been set up in Old Fort, NC for passengers of a bus that caught fire on Interstate 40 on Monday.

Red Cross of the Western Carolinas and McDowell County Emergency Management set up the shelter at the Old Fort Baptist Church on East Main Street to accommodate the 18 to 20 people left stranded.

Officials said the bus caught fire on the shoulder near Old Fort.

McDonald's of Old Fort has donated meals for passengers.

A replacement bus is expected to come from Charlotte.
