George Brown says his car was rammed repeatedly Saturday night on Ranch Road in Laurens County by a complete stranger with an apparent case of road rage.

Brown says the man,  later identified as Zolton Szabo, first began driving close to his rear bumper then passed him and slammed the brakes. After doing that several times Brown says Szabo took it a step further.

"I said 'he's gonna ram us' and sure enough he rammed me twice," Brown said.

At the time Brown says his wife and two young granddaughters were in the car with him.

"My wife was on 911. There's all this screaming and the babies were crying," Brown said.

Deputies say Szabo had been involved in another fight with a separate driver also on Ranch Road just before his run-in with Brown. Reports say a deputy responding to the first incident happened to see what was happening with Brown and Szabo and pulled in behind the two.

Brown says at that point Szabo tried evading police.

"He pulled in behind this yellow house and ran," Brown said.

Deputies caught up with Szabo and charged him in connection with both incidents on Ranch Road.

He now faces several charges of assault and battery, driving under suspension, and malicious injury to property. A background check on Szabo shows a number of other assault arrests as well as DUI charges.

As of Tuesday night Szabo was behind bars on a more than $50,000 bond.

Brown says he is sharing his story so other drivers can be prepared and other road-ragers can be warned.

"If you do it you're going to pay," Brown said. "Either through the criminal justice system or a bullet from a good person."
