Deputies said when they tried to stop a car with no headlights early on Wednesday in Anderson, the driver took off and pointed a gun at officers during the chase.
Anderson County deputies said they saw the black Honda just before 1 a.m. along Dixie Drive and tried to stop the car. Anderson police said they were involved in a very short chase with the same car shortly before.
Deputies said the car sped up so a chase began, lasting 25 minutes until officers called it off for safety concerns near the intersection of Dobbins Bridge Road at Highway 28 Bypass.
During the chase, deputies said the driver pointed a handgun out the window at their patrol car and then threw the gun out the window.
Deputies said they tried to find the gun but did not locate it.
The driver has not yet been arrested, according to deputies.
