Rain chances for Thursday, Arthur continues to push north

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Overnight lows will fall into the lower 70s in the Upstate and mid-60s across western North Carolina under partly cloudy skies. Calm winds will allow patchy fog to develop by early morning across the mountains.

Thursday will be slightly cooler, though still hot, with highs peaking right around 90 degrees in the Upstate and Northeast Georgia under mostly sunny skies. Western North Carolina will climb into the mid-80s with partly cloudy skies.

There will be a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm developing during the afternoon in the mountains. These showers can make their way into the Upstate as the day continues.

Tropical Storm Arthur will likely intensify into a Hurricane during the day on Thursday and affect the Georgetown and Myrtle Beach areas. Fortunately, the Upstate will see little to no impact from Arthur throughout the day into Friday.

Independence Day is still looking pleasant and sunny for northeast Georgia and the western Carolinas.
