An Upstate mother has been charged after her child tested positive for methamphetamine.
Ashley Coates, 33, of Landrum, tested positive for the drug in a urine drug screen three days before she gave birth to her baby on December 5, 2013, according to the incident report provided by the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said a hair test was done on the newborn and her other children.
They said one of them tested positive for meth.
DSS was called and the children were placed in the custody of their grandmother.
According to the incident report, Coates' two older children have tested positive for the drug before and were placed into foster care in North Carolina.
She is charged with unlawful neglect of a child.
