An Upstate vice principal is recovering after a crash that killed her teenage son as the family was headed to Florida on vacation.
Florence Chapel Middle School Vice Principal Ingrid Anderson was airlifted from the wreck on Interstate 95 near Brunswick, GA, according school district officials.
Her son Lyndon Anderson Jr., 17, was killed in the crash, according to the coroner.
Six members of their family were in the SUV headed to Orlando for vacation. Georgia investigators said a tire blew, sending the SUV out of control and causing it to flip.
The principal of the Duncan middle school said they are coming together to support the Anderson family, to help with funeral and medical expenses.
"We are heartbroken over the loss to the Anderson family. All of District Five is praying for them during this tragic time, and for Ingrid in her recovery," said Melissa Robinette, Spartanburg District Five's director of public relations.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced for Lyndon.
