An Upstate woman returned to her home on Wednesday to find blood covering her front door and parts of the apartment, but the bleeding intruder had not stolen a thing, according to deputies.
Spartanburg County deputies said the woman had spent the night with family and returned to her apartment to find the blood smeared door, along with drops on her walls and floors inside.
The sheriff's office report stated that all doors and windows were locked when she returned home, but no one besides the woman had keys to the Leland Street apartment and nothing appeared to be missing from inside.
A neighbor said an unknown man was banging on the doors and windows about 1:30 a.m. and asked if he could come inside her apartment, but she said no, according to deputies. The neighbor said he appeared to be sweating and possibly bleeding but ran off toward the sidewalk out of sight, deputies said.
According to deputies, a relative of the woman's had a key previously but she had gotten it back.
Anyone with information on the burglary should contact the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
